Allows users to view files like .docx, .pptx, .eps and more in-browser through Google Drive!
Note: This extension requires permission "webNavigation" because it has to redirect users when they open a file with a known extension. This shows up as "Browser History" when Chrome installs this extension. This extension will never save any information from your browser or your history.
This is a very simple extension that allows for viewing files inside the web browser, that you normally wouldn't be able to view.
Sometimes you come upon a website hosting to a Microsoft Word file (.docx) that you want to read. But it takes time for the file to download, and for Word to open and browse the file. Using this extension you can view the file right inside Google Chrome WITHOUT downloading the file to your computer. The extension uses Google Docs to view the files. Easy and secure.
You can still download files if you want to. (see screenshot)
The current version of this extension can view the following file-types:
.docx, .doc, .pptx, .ppt, .xlsx, .xlsx, .ai, .eps

Not bad actually, but need some updates. Some doc just loads and loads but do not open with Google docs. |

The extension works. It isn't restricted to a links like another similar extension, which adds a special button/icon to open supported files in the browser. Instead, it seems to intercept requests and pipe them into the Google Docs viewer. That's the functionality I was looking for. |
